According to
Polk, a leading global automotive and marketing intelligence firm, the average
age of cars has increased to 10.8 years old.
This is a record high for the automotive industry.
The severe
decrease in new cars sales in 2008 and 2009 has been a big contributor to this
trend. Sales have fallen from 16.2 million units to 10.4 by 2009 according to
AutoData Corp. That means 6 million less new vehicles on the road. (1)
The decrease in
demand is not the sole contributor to the increased age of vehicles in the
U.S.. Innovative technology also increased the lifetime of cars. They simply do
not break down as often. Because of this, people have realized they do not need
a new car every five years.
However, not all
divisions of the automotive industry have been hurt by this new trend.
Companies like Redline Detection are rising to meet the new demands for
preserving the life of vehicles by offering tools that are quick, economical,
and easy to use.
“The increasing age of the vehicle fleet, together with the
increasing length of ownership, offers significant business growth opportunity
for the automotive aftermarket,” said Mark Seng, global aftermarket practice
leader at Polk. “Dealer service departments and independent repair facilities,
as well as aftermarket parts suppliers, will see increased business opportunity
with customers in need of vehicle service.” (2)

Dear Friends and Fans,
You may have read a press release recently, written by a competitor, portraying that there has been a meaningful legal decision regarding smoke machine patents. We thought that you’d want to know that this press release in no way affects our business. If a competitor’s advertised claims seem exaggerated or untrue, they probably are.
Redline is pleased to tell you that its SMOKE PRO® family of diagnostic leak detectors has and continues to be the world’s best-selling. In fact, Redline’s SMOKE PRO® diagnostic leak detection system is OEM approved and is enjoying record success in both the aftermarket and OE sectors.
Just about the ONLY downside of our continued growth and success is that there is always a competitor who will be willing to take cheap shots. We are confident that integrity will always prevail.
On behalf of the Redline family, THANK YOU for your continued support and partnership!
