Redline Detection Wins SEMA Manufacturer of the Year Award

Orange, Calif., Nov. 6, 2020 Redline Detection, the world’s leader in diagnostic leak detection technology, has just been named the SEMA 2020 Manufacturer of the Year. This prestigious award is given to one manufacturer each year who has displayed exceptional technical innovation, outstanding business practices, leadership in the industry, and an investment in the well-being of their employees.

Redline Detection designs, engineers, and builds professional-grade diagnostic leak detection equipment for the automotive aftermarket, OEMs, and the heavy duty industry. Redline technology is currently used in 132 countries around the world by individual technicians, race teams, and leading automakers like General Motors, Tesla, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Nissan, Volvo, Subaru, Honda, Toyota, and others. Redline Detection is regarded as the industry leader in diagnostic leak detection due to its commitment to technological innovation, superior craftsmanship, and outstanding customer support.

This year, General Motors mandated Redlines PowerSmoke™ technology essential equipment in all 4,550 dealer locations in North America, recognizing the dramatic time savings and fast ROI of 8.2 weeks the tool provides. This delivers increased performance, improved emissions, and better fuel economy while creating dramatic technician time savings and boosting first-time fix. Redline Detection has also developed private label equipment programs for Matco Tools, Mac Tools Stanley Black and Decker, and Cornwell Tools.

In addition to designing custom diagnostic solutions for OEMs and the aftermarket, Redline Detection has demonstrated an industry-leading commitment to supporting technical education. The Redline team produces a weekly Tech Tip” video series for YouTube, focused on diagnostic leak detection tips and techniques. The company’s Orange, CA headquarters include the Redline Tech Academy, a classroom space that accommodates up to 40 people in person or hundreds via video demonstration and is free for customers and industry partners to use. Redline Detection has also partnered with organizations such as ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) to present free technical webinars for automotive students, technicians, and instructors. In each of the last five years, Redline Detection has donated $20,000 worth of diagnostic leak detection equipment to automotive education programs, at both the high school and college level.

Jeff Buckley, owner of My Father’s Shop Certified Automotive Repair in Midlothian, TX, has introduced Redline to some of these automotive programs in need of new equipment. “I’m so proud to work with Redline Detection to help get tools for schools. I hear many stories from schools that budgets are cut or are very tight. Many times it’s a dream to have a tool like a diagnostic leak detector. These schools are so appreciative to receive a quality tool from a quality company.” Buckley went on to say, “As I reach out to schools across our nation, Redline Detection doesn’t hesitate to help when they find out about a need.”

Redline Detection is also proud to be an active SEMA member. In 2019, Redline won the SEMA Global Media Award for the Dual Purpose Diagnostic Leak Locator™. The company also designed a custom-branded Dual Purpose Diagnostic Leak Locator™ for SEMA Garage headquarters in Diamond Bar, CA that is available for all SEMA members to use. Even during COVID, this team has risen to the occasion and shown up every day ready to work, so that we can continue to provide our Made in America quality equipment and support hard working technicians,” said Redline Detection’s CMO Alex Parker.

“Most of all, this award is for our industry. Together, we have proven that we can thrive and grow in the toughest of circumstances,” Ms Parker continued. “If there’s one thing we’ve learned from 2020, it’s that we as an industry are even stronger and more resilient than we ever thought.”

Redline Launches New SpeedSmoke

Designed to Address Proliferation of Boosted Vehicles in Aftermarket

Orange, Sept. 23, 2020 – Redline Detection, the world’s leader in diagnostic leak detection technology, announced today the launch of SpeedSmoke, the first diagnostic leak detector of its kind, designed to address the proliferation of boosted vehicles in repair shops. SpeedSmoke is now available exclusively through Matco Tools for a limited time.

Designed specifically for the aftermarket, SpeedSmoke has full featured diagnostic capability to pinpoint faults in naturally aspirated engines and also pinpoint high pressure turbo, diesel, supercharged, boost leaks, with 100% reliability, in just minutes.

Most automakers have implemented boosted engines to increase performance while delivering improved emissions and increased fuel economy. OEMs use boost across the full model range and customers with out-of-warranty vehicles are choosing aftermarket shops for service. Boosted engines are now commonplace; the Ford Eco-Boost was introduced a decade ago.

“Whether you repair import vehicles in California, SUVs in Ohio, or F-150 trucks in Texas, your customers need a shop that can accurately diagnose and repair boost leaks. Between 30-70% of out-of-warranty vehicles are boosted, depending on where you live. To keep up with changing vehicle systems, it’s essential for technicians and shop owners to master this technology or they risk losing their customers to a shop that has mastered diagnosing boosted systems,” said Alex Parker, CMO of Redline Detection. “These boosted vehicle models cannot be reliably diagnosed, maintained or repaired without this technology.”

SpeedSmoke is engineered with the same technology that has been mandated essential by leading automakers in 114 countries around the world including General Motors, Mazda, Subaru, Nissan, INFINITI, Jaguar Land Rover and more.

SpeedSmoke creates a dense, easily visible vapor with up to 20 times the PSI and 40 times the flow of traditional smoke machines to allow technicians to simulate the boost load of a running engine for testing with the engine safely off. The machine does both low pressure diagnostics for general repair and naturally aspirated engines, plus high pressure diagnostics for turbo, diesel and supercharged engines, in one sleek machine. SpeedSmoke also features an onboard micro air compressor for total portability and includes all needed accessories. SpeedSmoke is made in America quality with legendary ASE certified customer support just a phone call away.

NEW RECOMMENDED PRACTICE SAVING HEAVY DUTY DOLLARS AND DOWNTIME

LAS VEGAS, March 10, 2020Redline Detection, the industry leader in diagnostic leak detection, announced today that the Technology and Maintenance Council of American Trucking Association has voted to approve a Recommended Practice to address the problem of costly component leaks in heavy duty engines. A Recommended Practice (RP) is an important guide used by the heavy duty industry to identify the most critical new procedures and practices to run their fleets more efficiently and profitably.

Recommended Practice 375 presents a procedure, using high pressure diagnostic leak detection, to solve the industry-wide challenge of engine air leaks, the root cause of excessive aftertreatment maintenance and repair.  Aftertreatment service is one of the top expenses for fleet operators and TMC has determined that using diagnostic leak detection technology for periodic preventative maintenance inspection of the engine system to identify upstream component leaks is essential for the health of the aftertreatment system and to cut maintenance costs. Diagnostic leak detection technology is currently being used by many leading North American fleets to speed repairs, reduce costs, increase MPG, and increase vehicle uptime. Variable pressure visual vapor allows technicians to “see” air leaks that otherwise only open up under boost. The technology replicates the boost of a running engine for testing with the engine safely off.

An upstream air leak will trigger inaccurate air fuel mixture which causes the vehicle to burn more fuel, increasing fuel costs and triggering excessive aftertreatment maintenance and repair. The leak testing procedure in RP 375 uses visual vapor at a variable pressure of 2-20 PSI to quickly pinpoint and repair these troublesome unmetered air leaks, cutting maintenance costs, increasing uptime, and adding MPG.  TMC’s Recommended Practices Manual has been the leading maintenance guide for best practices in the commercial vehicle industry for more than 30 years. TMC leaders research emerging technologies and challenges in the field and direct fleets to the most pivotal new procedures to help them run as efficiently and profitably as possible.

“Fleets can’t possibly keep up with all of the emerging technologies and challenges in the field. TMC is looking out for the interest of these fleet operators, developing these RPs to direct fleets to the most important developments in the industry. TMC fact checks and vets these RPs over months and years before they are finalized. This is what the experts in fleet management have identified as proven best practices,” said Redline Detection Executive Vice President Alex Parker, speaking from CONEXPO in Las Vegas.

“Diagnostic leak detection in heavy duty engines is the best, most cost and time efficient procedure for PM and repair to run heavy duty fleets and equipment efficiently and profitably. The ROI is clear and fast.”  Learn more about diagnostic leak detection for heavy duty engines by downloading the whitepaper.
